Ebook Free Download | Spectral Analysis of Data | Experimental evidence suggest that spectral techniques are valuable for a wide range of applications. A partial list of such applications include semantic analysis of documents used to cluster documents into areas of interest, collaborative filtering the reconstruction of missing data items, and determining the relative importance of documents based on citation/link structure. continue reading…

Ebook Free Download | Quantum-Mechanical Theory of Optical Coherence | Light are the most pertinent example of the dual nature of quantum objects; it’s oscillatory properties served to verify the electromagnetic theory of Maxwell, and it’s lumpiness, the photons, signalled the dawn of modern quantum theory.
The electromagnetic phenomena form an integral part of modern technology. They are at work in all electrical motors, and our communication devices utilize their oscillatory behaviour in essential ways. Our radio receivers and mobile phones are all based on the ability of the radiation to sustain well-defined frequency and phase properties. continue reading…

Ebook Free Download | Using Diode Lasers For Atomic Physics | The many of current atomic physics research involves the interaction of atoms and light in some way. Laser sources that can be tuned to particular atomic transitions are now a standard tool in most atomic physics laboratories. Traditionally this source has been a tunable dye laser. However, semiconductor diode lasers have been steadily improving in reliability, power, and wavelength coverage, while steadily decreasing in cost. It is now possible to have a diode laser system that will produce more than 10 mW of tunable light with a bandwidth of 100 kHz for a cost of less than $1000. continue reading…

Ebook Free Download | Minimum Mean-Square Error and Maximum Likelihood Multiuser Detection: Statistical Properties and Applications | Although multiuser detection (MUD) has received intensive research since its invention by Verdu in 1983, however, the statistical properties in MUD have not received enough attention in research and application. In this contribution, we first study the statistical properties of minimum mean-square error (MMSE)-MUD, maximum likelihood (ML)-MUD and hybrid MMSE/ML-MUD from different aspects in the context of direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) communicating over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels. Both the amplitude statistics and ratio statistics are investigated. continue reading…

Ebook Free Download | Deterministic, Nondeterministic Signals | We consider any information in the form of signals, quantities, data, variables, values, functions, parameters, states, properties, events, procedures, transients, causes, impacts, phenomenon, effects, attributes, occurrences, errors, uncertainties etc. as models of the physical world (Supplement → Module “Signal – Structures and Parameters”). Signal Theory provides a classification structure as a common basis (Supplement → Module “Classification of Signals”). One dual pair of properties in this classification is deterministic and non-deterministic. This property pair decides on mathematical descriptiveness, if the signal is «analytically» describable or not, and thus decides on the suitable methods for signal data analysis. This is all about determinism and indeterminism in the philosophy of science. continue reading…
